Location: Silverdale, Washington (Bangor)

Type: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Work Schedule: Full-time

Compensation: $40.10- $40.10/hr

Tessera is seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanic, Heavy Duty and Diesel with a positive, professional, and can-do attitude. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining heavy equipment such as cranes, bulldozers, motor graders, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools. Duties include inspecting machinery to identify defects, performing disassembly and reassembly using hoists and hand tools, replacing defective components, welding broken parts, and testing equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performs maintenance of equipment including but not limited to wheeled vehicles, track vehicles, engineer equipment, power generation, and material handling equipment.

  • Accomplish minor repairs and perform services as outlined in established technical manuals.

  • Perform inspection and repair on brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs and steering systems.

  • Understand and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper diagnosis and repair during annual services.

  • Perform major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing components, removal and installation of assemblies, and installation of components.

  • Maintain Operational Vehicle Maintenance schedules.

  • Responsible for various reports- i.e., schedules, training, attendance, evaluations, various employee documentations, correct time keeping, and accident reports.

  • Train employees on job tasks and assignments to ensure complete understanding of work assigned.

  • Monitor employee performance to ensure efficient use of time and performance of work tasks.

  • Coach, mentor and resolve employee concerns in a respectful and mutually beneficial manner.

  • Monitor employees to ensure efficient use of time, performance, and understanding of work tasks.

  • Record daily personnel attendance and track employee absences, tardiness, etc.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • 5-8 years of experience working in Automotive

  • ASE Certification must be in the process of testing for ASE certification.

  • A valid CDL Class B required for moving vehicles around the shop area.

  • Must be able to pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and physical.

  • Knowledgeable in the maintenance of military vehicles and equipment.

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals to ensure proper diagnosis and repair.

  • Ability to read and troubleshoot repairs on brakes, suspensions, wheels, hubs, and steering systems.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and push or pull up to 70 pounds

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

  • A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
