Schedule: Full-Time | Every other Friday off (paid wellness day)

Your Role:

Grants Management Specialist - Heritage Behavioral Health Center (Decatur, Illinois)
The Grants Management Specialist will oversee the administration of grants and funding for Heritage Behavioral Health Center. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with grant requirements, managing budgets, and fostering strong relationships with funding sources. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about supporting behavioral health initiatives that make a difference in the community.

Core Responsibilities:

Grant Administration

  • Research, write, and submit grant proposals for local, state, federal, and private funding opportunities.
  • Coordinate collaboration meetings with leadership to align grant proposals with organizational vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, policies, and regulations.
  • Monitor grant-funded projects to ensure deliverables are met on time and within budget.

Budget Management

  • Assist in developing and managing grant budgets in collaboration with finance and program teams.
  • Track expenditures and ensure proper allocation of grant funds.
  • Prepare financial reports and statements as required by funders.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the organization and funding agencies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal teams, community partners, and grantors.
  • Facilitate meetings and presentations to communicate project goals, outcomes, and progress.
  • Prepare for contract site visits and audits.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation

  • Gather data for grant evaluation and auditing processes.
  • Prepare and submit timely progress and final reports to funding agencies.
  • Maintain organized records of all grant applications, contracts, and related documentation.
  • Create monitoring tools to ensure 100% compliance with contract requirements.

Technical Assistance

  • Provide training and technical assistance to staff regarding grant management practices and compliance.
  • Stay updated on grant opportunities, regulations, and best practices in behavioral health.
  • Complete OIG Investigator training within the first three months of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of grant administration, compliance principles, and regulatory standards in behavioral health.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for grant writing and reporting.
  • Advanced organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software; familiarity with electronic health records is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization and maintain professional integrity.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices to ensure compliance processes are sensitive and supportive.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in public administration, Business Administration, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in grant writing, management, or related roles (behavioral health or nonprofit experience preferred).
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Minimum age: 21 years.
  • Working conditions may require evenings and/or weekend hour for events or to meet deadlines
