Effectively managing the delivery of nursing care requires creating and promoting a professional practice environment at the unit level that exemplifies a vision and goals congruent with the Medical Center and the respective clinical service line as well as high levels of coworker engagement, patient satisfaction, safe and quality clinical outcomes, financial performance and physician satisfaction. Responsible to implement elements of the Nursing Strategic Plan within their departments. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Position Details:

The Nurse Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all caregivers within the Non-Invasive Cardiology and Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation departments, which operate primarily on weekdays with minimal staffing on weekends and holidays. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of patient care for a specialized cardiovascular population across all operational hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Oversight: Manage and support all caregivers-including nurses, CV technicians, sonographers and other allied health professionals-within assigned departments to achieve optimal clinical outcomes and resource utilization.
  • Professional Practice Environment: Foster a collaborative, professional culture aligned with the Mercy's mission, values, and strategic goals, promoting coworker engagement and physician partnership.
  • Operational Management: Maintain staffing plans for weekday operations and minimal coverage for weekends and holidays, ensuring continuity of care and patient safety.
  • Quality & Safety: Drive initiatives for patient safety, evidence-based practice, and regulatory compliance across all disciplines in non-invasive cardiology and rehab services.
  • Strategic Implementation: Execute elements of the Nursing Strategic Plan within assigned departments, supporting organizational priorities and service line objectives.
  • Performance Metrics: Monitor and improve clinical outcomes, financial performance, and patient experience through data-driven decision-making.

The Nurse Manager performs all duties in alignment with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards, ensuring excellence in cardiovascular care delivery.

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Internal transfer applicants without Bachelor's degree may be considered if the applicant is willing to actively pursue a Baccalaureate degree once hired into position. Actively pursuing a Baccalaureate degree is defined as being enrolled in a Baccalaureate program and completing at least one course per semester.

Licensure: Must have either a current RN Temporary Permit/RN license in the state of practice.

Experience: A minimum of three years clinical experience required.

Certifications:

Other: Past experiences must have demonstrated leadership ability, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to apply sound principles of management and supervision. Must be proficient in use of a personal computer and must be able to analyze complex data from various information systems.

Preferred Education: BSN preferred. Master's degree preferred.
