Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As Head of CM Cloud, Compute, Data & DevOps Platform, this role will be responsible for driving business critical initiatives and outcomes sponsored by RBC Capital Markets focused on our Cloud, Compute, Data, DevOps strategy and platform:

  • Enabling both offense and defense with data, from revenue generation opportunities to surveillance to driving efficient re-use of data.

  • Driving Cloud, Compute fabric and grid engineering enabling scale, risk management and business growth across CM.

  • Leading DevOps tooling and processes, enabling developer productivity and efficiency.

This individual will manage a large team and portfolio, work with senior executives and line level architects on a regular basis.

  • Lead CM Cloud, Compute, Data & DevOps Platform

  • Function as an innovation partner to collaborate, challenge and inform senior leadership on a regular basis

  • Demonstrate strong commercial vision that aligns technical capabilities with business objectives

  • Exhibit exceptional technical innovation and aptitude, consistently identifying and implementing cutting-edge solutions.

  • Maintain your finger on the pulse of external innovation, staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.

  • Actively collaborate with the broader enterprise, recognizing the value of cross-functional partnerships

  • Take action and initiative in identifying and shepherding special projects and key initiatives

  • Develop a keen understanding of the developing regulatory arenas affecting the opportunity and freedom to operate for the company

  • Manage day to day coordination of your team

  • Define project phases and milestones, and report progress in a reliable and timely manner to management team. Develops and maintains project plans, identifying critical paths and resources required.

  • Support the development of operating plans and budgets including goal setting relative to spend, labor force, facilities and equipment

  • Prepare clear, concise communications to keep management informed of the current status and future plans

  • Engage department leads to determine functional and strategic needs for new and existing products

  • Manage a team of people with varying levels of experience, and with a variety of technical backgrounds

  • Establish goals, KPIs and road maps for your team's project

  • Independently initiates, investigates, and implements new cost savings, performance enhancing or increased earning projects.

  • Assist R&D scientists on portions of project to ensure completion of the department's high priority projects and critical non-project work. Advises, directs, coaches, inspires and reviews the work of less experienced technologists on complex projects.

  • Act as a technical consultant to all other operational departments.

  • Evaluate and make recommendations concerning the application of new technologies.

  • Question processes, procedures and policies. Fully investigate, develop, and present alternatives for implementation.

  • Work collaborative with Operations, Sourcing/Procurement with respect to technology initiatives, ensuring that the appropriate decisions are taken

Managerial Excellence

  • Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business

  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities

  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.

  • Ensure that employees understand RBC vision, as well as support and reinforce targeted behaviors that contribute to RBC goals.

  • Provide focus and clarity in establishing individual goals, driving performance management, supporting career development and rewarding strong performance.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in related discipline

  • Strong innovation leader and partner

  • Exhibit exceptional technical innovation and aptitude, consistently identifying and implementing cutting-edge solutions

  • Related background leading CM Cloud, Compute, Data & DevOps or other tech divisions

  • Strong leadership experience, including proactively identifying and escalating operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business; review and comply with firm policies; growth mindset and a focus on always learning; contribute to an exceptional employee experience and Growth mindset and a focus on always learning

  • Maintain your finger on the pulse of external innovation, staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies

  • Possess keen understanding of the developing regulatory arenas affecting the opportunity and freedom to operate for the company

The Salary Range For The Above Position Is $300,000 - $400,000 Depending On Factors Including But Not Limited To The Candidate's Experience, Skills, Registration Status; Market Conditions; And Business Needs.This Salary Range Does Not Include Other Elements Of Total Compensation, Including A Discretionary Bonus And Benefits Such As A 401(K) Program With Company-Matching Contributions; Health, Dental, Vision, Life And Disability Insurance; And Paid Time-Off Plan.
