The Field Service Foreman is a hands-on leader responsible for directly supervising field service crews performing on-site transformer services, including installation, maintenance, repair, and teardown. This role ensures high-quality work, strict adherence to safety protocols, and timely completion of projects while maintaining customer satisfaction. The Foreman works closely with technicians, coordinates with management and other departments, and resolves technical and operational challenges in the field. The position demands strong leadership, technical expertise in electrical apparatus, and the ability to manage multiple job sites effectively.

Responsibilities & Expectations

Crew Leadership and Supervision


  • Lead, direct, and motivate field service crews to perform at a high level, ensuring quality workmanship and safe practices.
  • Provide on-site guidance, training, and support to technicians, helping them develop technical and safety skills.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure crew members follow established procedures and project specifications.
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety briefings to reinforce compliance with company policies and industry standards.


Field Operations Management


  • Inspect work in progress and upon completion to verify quality, safety, and adherence to customer requirements.


Technical Expertise


  • Conduct electrical testing procedures for apparatus in industrial, power generation, distribution, and transmission systems.
  • Prepare and review detailed test reports, ensuring accuracy and submission for approval.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site, collaborating with engineering or manufacturing teams when necessary.


Safety and Compliance


  • Enforce strict adherence to OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular site safety audits, addressing hazards and ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report accidents, near misses, workers' compensation claims, or first aid incidents promptly to management.
  • Ensure crews maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.


Customer Interaction


  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for customers, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction with service delivery.
  • Resolve escalated issues in the field, coordinating with management or other teams to meet customer needs.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, providing updates on project status and addressing scope changes.


Administrative Duties


  • Complete and submit daily reports, time sheets, expense reports, and technical documentation for crew members.
  • Provide input to management on crew performance, training needs, and operational improvements.


Emergency Response


  • Respond to emergency service calls outside regular hours, ensuring rapid and effective resolution of critical issues.
  • Coordinate with crews and management to mobilize resources for urgent repairs or maintenance.


Other Duties


  • Assist in training new technicians and onboarding crew members.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance field operations.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Field Service Manager or North America Transformer Manager.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and reference check
  • Maintain a current valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Eligibility to work in the US without need for employer sponsored VISA (work permit)
  • Prolonged periods (10 hour) of standing, lifting, and carrying materials
  • Must be able to perform physical labor including reaching, twisting, bending, grasping, pushing, pulling, climbing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and lifting.
  • Must be able to perform work outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds at a time.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination
  • Must be in good physical condition and have good motor skills.
  • Ability and willingness to wear Arc-Flash suit, fall protection harness, safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, respirator, and additional personal protective equipment.
  • Physically able to work with heavy tools and equipment at heights.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Two-year vocational or post-high school program in electrical trades or industrial electricity preferred
  • Associate degree in technology from an accredited 2-year technical college or similar military experience/training preferred
  • Experience performing medium voltage splicing and terminations
  • Experience with installation of switchgear and transformers
  • Ability to read one-line and control diagrams
  • Computer skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Office products
  • NETA certification preferred
  • 3 plus years' experience working on commercial and industrial electrical projects
  • 3 plus years' hands-on experience utilizing industrial electrical test equipment
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, NFPA 70-E training
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred
