Description The Epic Technology Trainer partners with clinical, operational, revenue cycle, and information services (IS) stakeholders to deliver an enterprise technology training program. This role, reporting to the Manager of Technology Training and Adoption, will have the opportunity to be part of an Epic-certified training team who will ensure all Children's National staff are well-prepared and proficient in using our new Epic electronic health record and related applications. You will help implement a continuous learning model to advance user adoption and system mastery. Your knowledge of health care workflows and information technology will empower our staff to leverage technology with competence and confidence, improving patient safety, care delivery, business processes, and the overall experience for patients, families, and colleagues every day.

Qualifications Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Undergraduate degree in health care, education, information technology, health care administration, or a related field is advantageous. (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
3 years Minimum of three years of clinical, operational, revenue cycle, technical, and/or training experience with health information technology, including electronic health records and other clinical or practice management applications. Experience with the Epic EHR is advantageous. (Required)
1 year One year of experience in staff onboarding, adult education, curriculum development, instructional design, and/or training delivery, preferably in a health care setting. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Communication: Excellent presentation and communication skills, adept at conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences through various channels, including static and dynamic pre-recorded and live content delivery, prioritizing user experience.
Interpersonal: Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with clinical, operational, administrative, and technical stakeholders and leaders across clinical departments and business units.
Project Management: Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple initiatives simultaneously, including overseeing successful and fast-paced implementations of enterprise software including the electronic health record (EHR).
Education: Knowledgeable in instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles. Proficient in using e-learning authoring tools, learning management systems (LMS), and virtual training platforms. Demonstrated experience enabling end user competency, confidence, continuous learning, and system mastery.
Technical: Strong expertise in health information technology, including electronic health records and related systems. Familiarity with cross-venue clinical workflows and health care operations, including revenue cycle, analytics, and other business processes.

Required Licenses and Certifications
This position requires that the appropriate Epic certification be successfully obtained and maintained for the assigned area of responsibility within 6 weeks of completing training, if not obtained prior to hire. 180 Days (Required)

Functional Accountabilities
Training Program Delivery
  • Deliver training curriculum tailored to specific user groups across departments.
  • Ensure training materials are accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with best practices.
  • Promote standard work, high reliability practices, and integration with clinical and operational workflows.
Training Environments
  • Maintain training domains and test patient content to support realistic, case-based learning.
  • Assist in the creation of training materials using simulated environments.
Implementation & Go-Live Readiness
  • Prepare, organize, and execute training activities for system go-lives and upgrades.
  • Track training progress and ensure users are adequately supported during transitions.
  • Coordinate with IS and project teams to align training with organizational strategy.
Change Management
  • Incorporate system updates into training sessions and materials.
  • Collaborate with informatics and operational leaders to support change adoption.
  • Address user resistance and promote the benefits of new features and workflows.
Performance Monitoring
  • Use metrics to evaluate training effectiveness and user adoption.
  • Spend time regularly in clinical and operational areas to observe system use, provide coaching, and identify learning gaps.
  • Plan follow-up interventions based on observed needs.
Collaboration
  • Partner with IS teams, department leaders, and vendors to ensure training meets user needs.
  • Facilitate communication across departments to support training alignment.
Documentation
  • Maintain detailed documentation of training materials, user guides, and support resources.
  • Ensure materials are accessible and support multi-channel communication.
