Job Title: MDM / RDM Lead

Division: Beazley Shared Services - Data

Reports To: Head of Data Value Management

Key Relationships: Customers of Data Value Management products and services, Group CDO, Data Leadership Team, Data Owners, Data Stewards, Platform owners and leads, Actuarial, underwriting and claims teams, general management, operations users (Finance, UCO, Exposure Management, Ceded RI), IT, outsource providers, Risk Management

Job Summary: Data is one of Beazley's greatest assets. As MDM / RDM Lead, you will be the in-house expert, and as such highly skilled at ensuring our master and reference data is well managed, fit for purpose, and delivering maximum value. Following the successful delivery of our Customer (SCV) dimension and critical reference data, you will be expected to partner with data owners and stewards, alongside other stakeholders to plan and deliver other critical dimensions (such as Product, Broker, Location etc). You will lead and champion the embedding of best practice within the organisation. You will be responsible for developing MDM / RDM products and services that help establish a culture of "Data Value" and work with the Head of Data Value Management to mature data literacy and capability as Beazley undertakes a significant investment in modernisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead the M/RDM delivery in line with the Data Management Framework
  • Support and develop the M/RDM team, processes and tools to achieve Beazley's data strategy / objectives
  • As part of the wider Data Value Management team, ensure we deliver enhanced outcomes via central capability, and effective implementation of products and services across the business.
  • Creation, management and monitoring of the M/RDM roadmap, aligned to business outcomes
  • Act as the key representative and business interface from the data team to support M/RDM activities and Beazley's strategic initiatives
  • Play a key role in supporting the Data Governance Group(s), ensuring M/RDM issues and demand are addressed and prioritised accordingly.
  • Implement effective M/RDM frameworks that enhance capability and maturity across Beazley, and ensure appropriate, accurate and up-to-date information is integrated into our systems at the point of need.
  • Lead and influence a team of internal and outsourced analysts
  • Ensures the availability and enhancement of core master data (customer, product, location, broker, etc) to all business domains.
  • Maintains master data processes and products and defines the process, tools and platform for Master data and reference data management.
  • Oversees the master and reference data analytics and reporting function
  • Ensure the successful implementation and adoption of M/RDM processes and tools by partnering effectively with data owners and stewards
  • Works with stakeholders across the business to capture and understand requirements with regards to M/RDM processes
  • Ensures the necessary data standards, compliance and security requirements are in place throughout master data processes
  • Ensures alignment with Data Governance to ensure required governance policies are in place and adhered to and illustrated throughout master data processes
  • Defines requirements and standards for master and reference data documentation
  • Owns and oversees the creation of master data definitions, and looks after access rights and version control
  • Proactively partner with data owners and set M/RDM expectations and requirements
  • Dynamically use the latest trends in M/RDM to drive positive cultural change in people, process, and technology.
  • Collaborate with risk partners to define and embed controls to maintain M/RDM integrity
  • Devise and monitor appropriate value indicators that measure Beazley's M/RDM performance globally and regionally.
  • Build and maintain good working-relationships across the Data team and other key stakeholders across Beazley to achieve shared goals
  • Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise on M/RDM, simplifying the art and making it accessible to Beazley employees
  • Prepare and present materials for the relevant committees to enable transparent prioritisation of MDM/RDM delivery
  • Drive the required level of ownership from data owners and data stewards across the group to ensure data is managed effectively

We're looking for candidates with experience of coordinating and implementing M/RDM teams and strategies within Financial Services. This candidate will need to demonstrate an effective delivery skillset and collaborate confidently with all levels of the organisation, creating good and successful networks. We are looking for someone who can innovate, with the ability to encourage performance and motivate peers and the wider organisation to embrace data and modernisation.

The successful candidate should have a passion for data and a curious mindset both for Beazley and the wider insurance industry. Great communication skills will be required across all levels of seniority and the ability to represent the Data Value Management team internally and externally.

  • A deep understanding of M/RDM policies and best practices, including industry trends
  • Strong experience in enforcing best practice. Able to combine rigour and discipline with a pragmatic approach to deliver the highest quality, cost effective solutions within set timeframes
  • Navigating and supporting the business to successfully adopt M/RDM policies and standards
  • Driving delivery of value through M/RDM implementation during the journey of modernisation and change initiatives
  • Management and communication skills with both business and technical partners

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of working in M/RDM, and Data Quality role
  • Experience of working within the Financial Services industry
  • Detailed knowledge of business and technology issues related to data management
  • Clear knowledge and experience relating to the application of M/RDM principles to support and drive data strategy
  • Established governance processes and engaged teams (direct and matrix), to lead and implement enterprise-wide M/RDM and demonstrable improvements in data quality
  • Experience using automation to manage and support data governance and quality
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing a M/RDM Framework
  • Working knowledge of lean, continuous improvement and Agile ways of working

Salary for this role will be tailored to the successful individual's location and experience. The expected compensation range for this position is $115,000 - 148,500 per year plus discretionary annual bonus.
