What You Will Do

Milliman's Milwaukee-based property and casualty practice is a leading expert in evaluating mortgage collateral for government agencies, mortgage lenders, insurers, reinsurers, and investors. Our consulting work is supported by a powerful toolkit of data analytics solutions informed by years of in-depth work in the mortgage industry.

The Mortgage Servicing Analyst is responsible for transforming raw data into actionable insights, optimizing data processes, building best-in-class predictive models, and supporting strategic decision-making. As the inaugural hire into this role, we are in search of a proactive individual who excels in an environment of innovation and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to collaborate with client-facing consultants to understand requirements and develop insightful data-driven solutions.

Responsibilities in this role will include:



  • Perform mortgage servicing rights (MSR) mark-to-market analysis and compile client reports under strict timeframes.
  • Complete MSR collateral analysis to support lending activities.
  • Analyze industry trends for insights to various model enhancements.
  • Design, normalize and enhance SQL databases for large data sets to facilitate analysis.
  • Design and perform ad hoc projects to meet client specific requirements.
  • Create automations in SQL, R, or VBA to create efficiencies.
  • Communicate directly with clients during the valuation process.
  • Design and perform ad hoc projects to meet client specific requirements.
  • Identify and define both process and data improvements.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and seamlessly switch priorities as needed.

What We Are Looking For

Professional Qualifications



  • At least one year of experience as a consultant producing MSR valuations
  • At least one year of experience with Compass Analytics
  • At least one year of experience working with mortgage loan tapes and mapping disparate loans tapes to a consistent format


  • Ability to query, summarize, and analyze large data sets
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Moderate SQL skills
  • Completed bachelor's degree or higher in finance, economics, or related analytical field

Preferred Qualifications



  • Exposure and understanding of discounted cash flow analysis
  • Mortgage banking industry, mortgage servicing rights or exposure to Compass Analytics model a plus.



Location

This is a remote position. Candidates hired into this role may work onsite in select Milliman office locations, if they prefer. Applicants must be willing to travel on occasion for meetings, conferences, and team events.

Compensation

The overall salary range for this role is $59,200 - $109,020.

For candidates residing in:



  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City,


Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the salary range is $68,080 - $109,020.



  • All other locations the salary range is $59,200 - $94,800.


A combination of factors will be considered in determining final compensation, including but not limited to education (including passed actuarial exams), relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, and certifications.
