Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Investment Intern in High Yield!

Role Overview

The intern will work closely with the traders and analysts on the team to learn about the US High Yield and Leveraged Loan markets. Gain exposure to essential skillsets to analyze market technicals and perform credit analysis.

The internship duration is 12 weeks, running from May 18 - August 7, 2026

Key Responsibilities



  • Provide support to HY and the Bank Loan desk
  • Maintain desk tools and reports using Excel and Bloomberg screens and APIs
  • Perform reconciliations to ensure data accuracy
  • Learning the basics of evaluating company fundamentals and industry trends, key operating metrics, business quality, competitive positioning, and valuation
  • Developing investment theses and recommendations on single names
  • Identifying investment ideas across a company's capital structure on primary and secondary opportunities



Education and Skills



  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's in finance with coursework in Portfolio Management, Investments, and Fixed Income Securities
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's in finance with coursework in Portfolio Management, Investments, and Fixed Income Securities



What we offer you

We ship you a laptop and any other equipment necessary for a successful internship.

Compensation:

Hourly Range: $22.00-25.00

Work Authorization

Employer work visa sponsorship and support are not provided for this role. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States and must maintain authorization to work in the United States throughout their employment with our company.
