What to Expect
The Controls Engineer for the Remanufacturing team will be commissioning, troubleshooting and programming automated equipment systems, robot applications, conveyor systems, vision systems, and process/equipment monitoring components. In addition, will collaborate with the maintenance team to identify, fix, and improve equipment and controls related failures.
What You'll Do
- Program and debug structure text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms (Beckhoff, TwinCAT, and Allen Bradley Rockwell platform)
- Develop code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable, uses complex electrical schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot and correct problems, implement and enforce Tesla equipment safety standard into the manufacturing equipment, including periodic checks and qualification inspections
- Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for fast and smooth operation (Schneider, PowerFlex, Beckhoff, Siemens, SEW)
- Create intuitive operator touchscreen interfaces using MappView/TwinCAT HMI and SCADA dashboards screens using Ignition
- Lead controls commissioning efforts for more than seven different manufacturing lines, support andassistmaintenance team in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures related to control systems
- Responsible for implementing and managing continuous process optimization including the addition of advanced and conventional technologies to improve quality, productivity and reduce overall waste
- Maintained and program state machines for complex processes which involve conveyor processing, multi-station parallel processing, data acquisition
- Overall responsibility for controls related activities in the production shop, leading andassistingproduction and maintenance in all controls related topics and issues
- Developed and maintained Ignition projects and gateway, which included scripting API calls to web applications, managing database connections and named queries, and configuring OPC device connections
- Develop andmaintainproper documentation of all electrical equipment and associated procedures, making updates as required by modifications, identifyweak areas of the production systems using root cause analysis and first principles thinking and implement effective countermeasures using all available means
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 1-3 years of experience in mechanical/electrical systems and custom machine-building
- Expertise in SolidWorks, automation systems, PLCs, robotics, and electromechanical components
- Familiarity with DFM, OEE, process validation, welding, CNC, and pneumatic systems
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment
- Passionate about optimizing manufacturing equipment and processes, and be hands-on in manufacturing environment

Expected Compensation
$72,000 - $151,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
