What to Expect

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician to join our Failure Analysis and Automation Testing team at Tesla in Fremont/Austin. As an Engineering Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our Failure Analysis Engineers in troubleshooting Tesla vehicle products and our Automation Test Engineers in building automation testers. Your responsibilities will also include sustaining equipment, documenting procedures, and writing instructions for operators to ensure seamless testing and analysis operations.

Shift: 9-5; Monday - Friday


What You'll Do
  • Build and troubleshoot low-voltage DC testers using various loads (resistive, inductive, electronic) and necessary harnesses
  • Assist with equipment installation, test fixture/cabinet assembly, and validation
  • Read and write technical documentation to support testing and analysis activities
  • Utilize electronic measurement equipment (e.g., multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes) to identify failures and triage electronic circuits
  • Strong technical skills, including:Soldering and electronics fabrication/prototyping, Mechanical fabrication/prototyping, Wire harness skills
  • Using exemplary verbal and communication skills and meticulous attention to detail to engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to use knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals; High Voltage/Power, Electronics experience being a plus

What You'll Bring
  • Experience with NEC NFPA 70 and previous lab environment experience
  • Proficiency in common MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience assembling equipment from mechanical engineering drawings
  • Proficient in reading electrical schematics and wiring electrical control panels
  • Experience installing, wiring, and plumbing common manufacturing devices
  • Working knowledge of DC/AC electrical systems
  • Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines

    Expected Compensation
    $30.50 - $38.85/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
