10 AM to 6:30 PM, M-F. No weekends. Summary The Medical Laboratory Scientist II, in their role as Testing Personnel as defined by CLIA, may perform both waived and non-waived testing. Under general supervision, they carry out all policies and perform all tests in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures. They work independently in an efficient and organized manner to ensure accurate results and records. This role requires a professional level of knowledge to accurately read and interpret test results used by providers in diagnosing and treating diseases. As General Supervisor as defined by CLIA, the Medical Laboratory Scientist II may be delegated responsibility for the day-to-day supervision or oversight of laboratory operations and the personnel performing testing and reporting results. Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager and Clinical Supervisors, they are also responsible for supervising assigned workstations, including Quality Control (QC) review, staff training, competency assessments, and inventory management. Testing personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting of results. Each individual performs only those tests authorized by the laboratory director that require a level of skill aligned with their education, training, experience, and technical abilities. No Essential Functions After completion of orientation, training, and competency assessment on instruments and methods applicable to their role, the Medical Laboratory Scientist II must: Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting, and record maintenance. Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are analyzed in the same manner as patient samples. Adhere to quality control policies and document all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed. Follow established corrective action policies whenever test systems fall outside acceptable performance ranges. Identify issues that may adversely affect test performance or results, and either correct them or promptly notify the appropriate supervisor or director. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
