Position description

The Neutrino Group at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a postdoctoral research position.

The successful candidate will contribute to hardware development, software development, and data analysis within the DUNE and NOvA experiments. The candidate will work primarily with Professor Bian.

Responsibilities include the construction and assembly of DUNE's LAr purity-monitoring system, DUNE cold-electronics testing and assembly, as well as R&D for future neutrino detectors. Experience with LArTPC technology and SiPM-based detectors is preferred.

Bian's group is a leading AI/ML developer within the DUNE and NOvA collaborations, with ongoing projects such as transformer-based reconstruction, large-language-model development, and HPC-parallelized inference. The candidate will have significant opportunities to contribute to these AI/ML efforts as part of the group's research program.

The candidate is also expected to contribute to the analysis of early DUNE data and the full data-set analysis of the NOvA experiment.

The position requires the ability to travel to Fermilab, CERN, and SURF.

We are seeking candidates with a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics and demonstrated skills in both hardware and software/analysis. Applicants should prepare a curriculum vitae, a description of research interests, and arrange for three letters of recommendation. Applications must be submitted through UC Irvine's online system, RECRUIT, at:
