MISSION:

Inspect molds in shell finish (internal and external) to determine compliance with written work instructions. Identify defects, send the molds back to the proper teams for correction, and document the problems found. Improve the process knowledge and skills of shell finish employees by working with and providing feedback on findings, proper methods, and written procedures. Monitor equipment used in the shell finish operation to verify compliance with written operating instructions as required. Record process data use by engineers, manufacturing management and employees on the shop floor. Help generate solutions to process issues and to assist in the revision of process documentation.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Audit of Product:

Objective: Inspect molds in shell finish once the gating has been insulated and after the blanket wrap; requires inspection throughout the insulation for visual defects and violations of work instructions.

Essential Job Functions:

• Performs visual inspection of product for defects vs quality standards using tools such as (but not limited to) measurement instruments, levels, lights, mirrors, camera, and borescope (if necessary)
• Compares product to written work instructions to assure completeness.
• Records observations in the computer database for use by engineers and manufacturing supervision as well as written feedback to give to operators.
• Helps classify acceptable vs unacceptable molds in the database.
• Supports development of camera system and technology as necessary.
• Completes and submits a process variance notice where applicable.
• Gives personal feedback to operators on defects found and applicable work instructions. May also write up feedback forms to review with supervision.
• May meet with team members and staff to point out chronic problems and lead in seeking a solution.
• Ensures all paperwork is completed and filed per plant requirements.
• May require travel between PCC and OSP plants both in and out of state.
• May require obtaining an Inspection Stamp.

Audit of Process:

Objective: Audit operations in the shell finish area, specifically mold wrapping to verify compliance to written work instructions as required.

Essential Job Functions:

• Works with operators and observes how the process is performed, relative to the technique card and other applicable documentation.
• Records observations in the computer database for use by engineers and manufacturing supervision. Alerts supervision to situations that would make it impossible for operators to follow written instructions. (mechanical problems, outdated instructions, etc.) Assists in document revision.
• Completes and submits a process variance notice where applicable.
• Gives personal feedback to operators on deviations found and applicable work instructions.
• May meet with team to point out chronic problems and lead in seeking a solution.
• May use measurement tools as required.

Special Projects:

Objective: Assist other areas as required in activities necessary to complete a special project.

Essential Job Functions:

• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Ability to work with non-shell finish employees in areas outside of investing.
• Ability to repair non-conforming product.

Safety:

Objective: Work in a safe manner. Alert other employees who place themselves in an unsafe situation.

Essential Job Functions:

• Suggest changes to documentation which will ensure worker safety.
• Alert supervision to unsafe situations.

Training:

• Training is provided on the job.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Passing visual test (QCM 9.1.1).
• Minimum of 3 months working in shell finish and meeting quality expectations as outline in PCP's, SOP's and tech cards.
• Ability to read and follow complex written instructions in English.
• Ability to work independently, plan time and solve problems with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
• Ability to deescalate tense situations and foster cooperation between inspectors and assemblers.
• Good manual dexterity and visual accuracy; ability to attend to details.

Preferred:

• Ability to read and speak in foreign languages.
• Prior inspection experience.
• Use of hand tools and measurement devices.
• Process auditing.
• Facilitation skills.
