The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Finance with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Director of Funds flow, the Senior Manager of Clinical Provider Compensation is responsible for overseeing the administration and strategic management of the VP&S clinical provider compensation plan. Key responsibilities include managing and validating data inputs for compensation calculations, maintaining and enhancing payroll dashboards in collaboration with analytics teams, and evaluating the financial impact of proposed changes to the compensation model. The Senior Manager supports annual budgeting processes by providing accurate projections and insights. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and the ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives informed by industry trends and best practices.

Responsibilities

Program Oversight and Administration



  • Oversee the maintenance of the clinical compensation plan to align with organizational goals and faculty productivity metrics.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for plan-related inquiries, providing expert guidance and interpretation.
  • Participate in the approval process of compensation payments that are in alignment with plan
  • Maintains compensation and productivity benchmark data and performs annual updates to the VP&S compensation plan as needed


Data Management and Analysis



  • Collect and validate any changes to underlying parameters of the compensation calculations (e.g., cFTE, non-clinical compensation, clinical specialty, etc.).
  • Maintain quarterly payroll dashboard and collaborate with CUIMC Analytics on enhancements, bug fixes, and any other items related to the dashboard.
  • Participates in comp plan financial modeling and the gathering of materials in preparation of leadership meetings


Financial Planning and Budgeting



  • Evaluate the financial impact of proposed changes to the compensation model and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Support annual budgeting processes by providing compensation-related projections and insights.


Faculty Support and Communication



  • Conduct workshops or one-on-one sessions to educate department leadership about the compensation plan and related policies.
  • Support department leadership to address faculty concerns or disputes regarding compensation calculations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Create and distribute clear documentation and resources to ensure transparency in the compensation process.


Strategic Leadership and Collaboration



  • Work closely with department chairs, division heads, and senior leadership to ensure alignment between compensation structures and institutional goals.
  • Participate in cross-functional committees to evaluate and refine compensation strategies based on organizational needs and industry best practices.


Continuous Improvement



  • Stay informed on industry trends and benchmarks to ensure the plan remains competitive and fair.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in education and employment, plus four years of experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting- or finance-related field, as well as at least four years of progressively comprehensive experience in financial management
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting best practices.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Strong Excel skills are essential, including the ability to create and present reports.
  • Capacity to work independently and successfully within a deadline driven, multi-tasking operating environment; demonstrates sound judgement in managing time, prioritizing, and decision-making.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be a liaison and deliver excellent customer service to all stakeholders, including principal investigators/faculty and personnel in central offices.
  • Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality, possess a high level of professionalism, and be customer service driven.
  • Experience in an academic medical center or hospital is strongly preferred. Experience with physician compensation is strongly recommended.
