Job Family Description

Administrative and business services professionals provide various office and location support activities. They identify, enhance, and follow specific processes and procedures to maximize the efficiencies of the business to which the support is being provided, and ensure the correct functioning of facilities, office and/or business support services.

Discipline Description

Business Analysts are professionals who analyze business processes, and data across an entire organization to optimize performance, and drive strategic initiatives. They bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions, facilitating organizational change, and maximizing the value of enterprise-wide investments. They may use Six Sigma skills for data analysis and evaluation. They take the results of the analysis and establish improvements and control mechanisms.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving reporting solutions used for oversight of various NNSA Programs and Projects; primarily focused on budgets. Understand company use of PeopleSoft (ERP), Deltek Cobra (Budget development), and OAS (Data Analytics), and other systems as needed, extracting data from these systems, transforming and validating the data, and loading the final output into Excel reporting files.

Ensuring data quality standards by maintaining data integrity within reporting systems and associated source files used in building reports.

Works with Budget Analysts and their Program/Project customers to understand their reporting needs and develop reporting solutions to meet those needs. Providing reporting support through the entire budget cycle. Translate end user reporting needs into objectives and deliverables, maximizing end user understanding and use of reported data.

Ensure reports are delivered on time with accurate data to relevant stakeholders with clear explanations of reporting insights. Effectively communicating complex data reporting insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in industry-leading reporting tools and provide recommendations for reporting enhancements and optimizations.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least five years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered
* Possesses very strong personal computer skills.
* Considerable proficiency in the use of automated accounting and planning systems as tools for performing required duties.
* Possesses practical experience in the use of the Site Business systems, as well as advanced Microsoft Excel skills including in-depth knowledge of advanced formulas, macros, pivot tables, charts, and lookups to support reporting and data analysis.

* Advanced Excel skills for maintaining large data models, retrieving data from multiple sources, transforming data as needed, and combining data into many different worksheet views in the final reporting file.
* Knowledge of Power Query, Power Pivot, and Excel Data Model tools, including the ability to use these tools to source, transform, and load data into various reporting, analytical, and visualization tools such as Excel (primary), Power BI, Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), and more.
* Knowledge of M (Power Query) and DAX (Power Pivot) programming languages used to build, troubleshoot, and modify Power Query and Power Pivot data models.
* Knowledge/experience with other primary financial systems used by the company such as:
Oracle Analytical Server (OAS)
Deltek Cobra
Power BI
SharePoint (for hosting/sharing report files)
MS 365 application suite (Lists, Automate, Notes, etc..)
SQL
PeopleSoft Financials (Oracle) (PS Query)

* Report writing experience with any program utilizing tables, fields, measures, and attributes.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data analysis and reporting. Ability to ensure data integrity and consistency in reports.
* Familiarity with data visualization best practices.
* Advanced reporting and quantitative skills with proficiency in extracting, transforming, validating, and loading large datasets.
* Excellent problem solving, analytical, and communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present technical concepts and insights to technical and non-technical audiences. Includes the ability to solicit technical/reporting specification requirements from a non-technical audience.
* Knowledge and understanding of Database Management Systems, including the relationship between data structures, data integrity, and database architecture; including ERP database structures, such as PeopleSoft Financials or Oracle.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
