Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
In the School of Art, students study and practice visual art, art history, art education, and arts administration to develop the skills, knowledge, and critical awareness to thrive as artists, educators, scholars, and creative professionals. Students and faculty engage in a process of discovery that values art as a relational practice through material exploration and investigation of global artistic traditions, past and present. We cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and respectful learning community that welcomes students at all levels of experience, empowering them to bring their whole identities into their creative work and to grow into confident, capable artists and thinkers. Through studio practice, research, and community engagement, the School of Art contributes to local, national, and international arts communities while modeling a more equitable and expansive future for the visual arts.
Position Summary
The School of Art at UNC Greensboro welcomes applications for a full-time Lecturer in Game Design and Technology position beginning Fall 2026. With this position, the School of Art aims to expand its undergraduate Animation program, which fosters artistic excellence, nurtures next-generation storytellers, and prepares students for professional and creative achievement. UNCG values the diversity of its student body and is committed to attracting a diverse applicant pool for this role.
The successful candidate will contribute to curricular development in collaboration with School of Art colleagues; actively advise and mentor students in the Animation program; teach four in-person courses per semester in interactive media, game design in Unreal Engine, and related areas such as 3D modeling; and provide service to the department, college, university, and community.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Animation, Interactive Media, Visual Art, Media Studies, Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field; OR an equivalent record of professional experience in the field and at least one notable professional achievement (Licenses and certifications, documented excellence in teaching, honors or awards, publications, presented papers, juried art activities/screenings, significant successful grants, etc.).
  • Evidence of teaching experience (courses, workshops, preferred; however, candidates with comparable, transferable skills and a dedicated interest in developing and establishing themselves as teachers are also encouraged to apply).
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine.


Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of college or university teaching experience.
  • Professional experience in the games industry.
  • Experience engaging with diverse perspectives in game design, animation, and interactive media.
