The Opportunity

The Facilities Reliability & Integrity Engineering Services (FRIES) organization is a team of experts who leverage deep technical skills and subject matter expertise to maximize the value of TC Energy's facilities assets across North America. The FRIES organization is accountable for fit for purpose technical standards and asset management strategies that balance risk, asset performance and cost. FRIES also provides escalated subject matter expert (SME) support to resolve complex engineering challenges and support operations and project engineering functions.

The Industrial Controls & Cybersecurity (IC&C) team within FRIES comprises engineering SMEs with deep technical expertise on systems and equipment core to gas facilities processes, but outside of the prime mover (i.e. compressor units and the main pipeline through facilities). The IC&C team consists of Industrial Controls and Cybersecurity engineering SMEs and has four primary accountabilities - technical authority for engineering standards, Tier 3 (escalated) engineering support to operations engineering, development of asset management strategies, and projects engineering support.

IC&C Team is seeking an Industrial Controls System (ICS) Technologist who has industry and technical knowledge and experience in gas facilities (Automation & Electrical [A&E] and/or Measurement & Regulation [M&R]) industrial control systems.

What you'll do

  • Assist in data management for digital assets and maintenance of inventory records
  • Review technical documentation including but not limited to: restore and recovery procedures, firmware upgrade procedures, integrity plans, and disaster recovery plans
  • Monitoring of security advisories issued by manufacturers and evaluation of security-related firmware patches
  • Help identify upgrade and replacement needs for Measurement equipment within ICS
  • Protect critical infrastructure and industrial control systems (ICS) used in natural gas operations
  • Monitor network security and detect potential cyber threats
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and device testing
  • Support the implementation and execution of TSA-driven M&R projects for firmware upgrades and device replacements and monitor progress as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with industry cybersecurity standards
  • Analyze security logs and investigate potential security incidents
  • Perform risk assessments for digital and physical infrastructure
  • Support continuous improvement of cybersecurity measures

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of ICS security
  • Knowledge of natural gas industry-specific security challenges
  • Strong understanding of gas measurement principles
  • Experience with flow measurement tools and technologies
  • Awareness of regulatory compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity or engineering
  • Certifications like CISSP, CISA, or GIAC
  • Advanced troubleshooting and analytical capabilities
  • Excellent technical documentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Detailed understanding of natural gas measurement protocols
