This position is based in our Reading, PA office and is not a remote opportunity.

Purpose:

You will support Substation and Transmission projects with focus on electrical protection and control activities for Worley and its Customers as an integral part of the Power Networks team. This includes new substations and switchyards, modifications, additions and upgrades to existing facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical execution of complex protection and control project assignments applied to both brownfield and greenfield Power Networks projects for various clients.
  • Preparation of specifications and provide procurement support.
  • Preparation of engineering drawings and documents, calculations, and other miscellaneous deliverables as required.
  • Supervise/coordinate other engineers of equal and lesser experience to successfully deliver a project.
  • Complete tasks in accordance with project procedures, applicable codes and/or standards, on schedule and within budget.
  • Discuss technical problems and communicate effectively with other project personnel and outside Customers.
  • Perform independent audits and reviews of technical work.
  • Perform proposal preparation, proposal estimates, and provide input to scope documents and client presentations.
  • Perform the function of a team leader that is capable of solving complex issues and act as a lead engineer responsible for the quality of the deliverables.
  • Work in a team-oriented environment with ability to work independently or as part of a group when and as required.
  • Interface with other departmental staff, project management, and with outside Customers.
  • Ability to travel to job sites to perform site walkdown.
  • Responsible for the quality assurance of the documents to the applicable drawing standards and responsible for the proper document management procedures are followed.

What You Will Bring Technical Experience and Qualifications
  • Experience developing project cost estimates and contributing technical content for proposals and bids.

  • A strong working knowledge of applicable regulations, electrical codes, manufacturer standards, and industry best practices related to protection and control systems.

  • Proficiency in commonly used engineering and office software, including the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver work in a structured and organized manner.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, project managers, and clients in a team-based environment.

Education, Licensure, and Certifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States, or the ability to obtain licensure prior to the first day of employment.

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in protection and control engineering for substations and switchyards, including experience providing technical leadership or supervision.

  • Experience with high-voltage substations up to and including 500 kV and above is required.
