Responsibilities

Summary

The Vice President, Labor Cost & Systems will be responsible for implementing, overseeing, and analyzing electronic systems designed to maximize labor cost efficiency at GEO facilities. This position will oversee a Director and an Analyst who will provide assistance in carrying out the objectives of this position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and assist in the implementation of labor cost optimization systems, aligning with the organization's operational mission and financial goals.
  • Coordinate with the FP&A team to develop, manage, and monitor the operational budget, with specific oversight of labor and related costs.
  • Monitor and analyze labor-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics (e.g., labor hours, vacation time, overtime, break time and penalties) to properly identify labor costs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Development of integrated systems and the appropriate reports to oversee the field level application of labor planning, staffing levels, and scheduling to ensure the required coverage for operational demands while avoiding unnecessary labor overruns.
  • Ensure the proper application and compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and respective regulations.
  • Monitor labor cost and productivity and ensure appropriate staffing levels to support operational needs.
  • Assist Operations with the development of short-term and long-term staffing plans for operations that are aligned with overall business objectives and provide clear direction for the operations team.
  • Provide direct support concerning staffing plans and labor costs on business development pricing models.
  • Oversee labor cost analysis, staffing based on specific business plans, identify areas for labor improvements and recommendations for increased profitability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business related field such as Business, Finance, or Accounting and ten (10) years of work experience in a finance-related role overseeing labor and operating costs.
  • Prior experience working with government contracts preferred or an equivalent combination of work experience and education (master's degree in business or public administration can substitute for one year of the required supervisory experience).
  • Prior experience with large intensive operations and business lines such as in healthcare, manufacturing or facility management preferred.
  • Preferred skillset of having working knowledge and familiarity with the UKG/Workforce and Hyperion platforms, or similar time keeping and financial applications.
  • Ability to exhibit leadership qualities to gain the respect of all employees. Must have the ability and desire to work in a cooperative manner and to make management decisions.
  • An understanding of the contract and client labor requirements is essential to success, along with a good working knowledge of all functional department operations.
  • Ability to collaborate with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to exhibit a professional presence with external clients and various governmental officials.
  • Excellent analytical qualities. Ability to develop and maintain complex spreadsheets and other large data sets.
  • Ability to travel periodically with frequent overnight stays.
