Visiting Lecturer in Japanese Language Department of Asian Languages and Civilization Location: Amherst, MA Open Date: Dec 22, 2025 Description Amherst College's Department of Asian Languages and Civilizations invites applications for a visiting lecturer in Japanese language, beginning July 1, 2026. This is a full-time appointment with an initial one year term and the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and the departmental needs. This is a purely instructional position and carries the equivalent of a three/three course load. The successful candidate will offer courses in elementary through advanced levels of the Japanese language. Amherst College is one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country. The academic field of specialization may be linguistics, language education, second language acquisition, Japanese language and literature, or another related field. A Ph.D. degree is preferred, and a master's degree is required. The salary offered will vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to relevant education, training, and experience, tenure status, and other nondiscriminatory business considerations.
