Position Description:

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Surgery is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and highly motivatedPost Doctoral Research Scholar to conduct innovative research in collaboration with Dr. Vikas Dudeja and the lab team. This position will provide a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of inflammation and cancer biology and contribute to groundbreaking research projects. The postdoc will also participate in didactics, research, and teaching when available.

Duties to include:





  • Designing and executing experiments
  • Maintaining clinical databases
  • Collecting and analyzing data
  • Assisting with writing and revising manuscripts, grant proposals, abstract submission, and publications
  • Mentoring and collaborating with graduate students and research assistants
  • Present finding at conferences

Dr. Vikas Dudeja is a surgeon-scientist and the Chair of the Department of Surgery at University of Iowa Health Care. His lab performs cutting edge research on deciphering the role of various signaling pathways, gut microbiome, and immune system on the initiation and progression of pancreatic cancer and pancreatitis. The lab is currently overseeing multiple ongoing clinical trials and has a track record of translating research findings from bench to bedside.

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any conviction history and will be subject to a criminal background check and credential/education verification. Up to 5 professional references will be requested at a later step in the recruitment process.

Education Requirement:


  • MD or PhD in related discipline.


Required Qualifications:


  • Expertise in routine molecular and cell culture techniques.
  • Excellent laboratory and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
