Shift:Monday - Friday, days, 40 hours/week Work Arrangement:On-site Compensation: * Base Pay Range: o Medical Assistant: $16.68 - $26.31per hour, based on experience o Certified Medical Assistant: $17.92 - $28.27per hour, based on experience * Choose Between Sign-On Bonus -OR- Retention Rewards o Sign-On Bonus: $1,500 o Retention Rewards: Up to $15,000 * Relocation Support: Additional $5,000 if moving from over 50 miles away * Retention Reward (Option 1): $2,000 per year for up to 5 years, totaling $10,000 * Student Loan Repayment (Option 2): $2,000 per year toward student loans, up to 5 years, totaling $10,000 o Note: Details will be provided during the HR interview. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION * Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies and procedures. * Prepare patients for the health care visit by accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; positioning patients for examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment. * Verify patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment. * Support care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood; preparing patients for x-rays; taking electrocardiograms; removing sutures; changing dressings. * Educate patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions; answering questions; complete records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results. * Maintain stock levels and order clinic supplies; keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. * Consistently communicate in a professional and courteous manner; Provide in-service training and precepting as directed. * May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS MEDICAL ASSISTANT: * Graduation from a medical assistant education program or two (2) years of medical assistant experience. * Applicant must possess Medical Assistant certification (listed below) within of 6 months of hire as a condition of employment. CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT: * One of the following certifications: * Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) * Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) * Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) * Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) * Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) by the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) * Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Additional formal education in a health care field is preferred. * Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
