The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $43.00 - $53.94 (Hourly Rate).

The LVN utilizes the nursing process to assess and identify the individual needs of patients through observation of disease symptoms, emotional state, laboratory reports, cultural and socio economic background and response to medical regimen and treatment. Additionally, s/he is required to learn and apply the Prepare Clinic Standards. In collaboration with the Prepare health care providers, nurses, patient care technicians and senior administrative workers, the LVN will also assume clinical responsibility for lab result review and monitoring, and patient education This individual will utilize his/her good customer service and communication skills on a daily basis via phone/electronic contact, mail correspondence, and personal contact with both internal and external customers. This employee will utilize computer skills in ApeX and other UCSF computerized programs. This individual supports the standards of the policies and procedures of the practice, and is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of Medical Center policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and administrative and clinical practice. S/he is required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center, as well as demonstrating UCSF's PRIDE values and the AIDET fundamentals of communication in all patient care and stakeholder interactions.

Required Qualifications


  • Five years of ambulatory clinic experience
  • 1 year of correctional nursing experience
  • Preop preparation experience in an academic medical center
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • EKG experience
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position, including demonstrated excellent communication skills, problem-solving ability, and high comfort level with learning new technology/systems
  • Basic computer/keyboarding skills
  • Prior experience with electronic systems/records
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
  • Licensed as a Vocational Nurse in the State of California
  • AHA CPR certification (BLS)

Preferred Qualifications


  • Correctional nursing experience
  • Excellent phlebotomy skill
  • Previous Prepare Clinic experience or similar

License/Certification

Active Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
