Primary Purpose of Job

Leads the Financial Reporting team in providing accurate, relevant and timely financial information to various internal and external users. Possesses and uses thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, banking regulatory reporting requirements and SEC reporting requirements and is actively involved in determining the proper accounting and reporting treatment of all Bank activities.

Major Job Accountabilities

  • Responsible for oversight of the Bank's financial information, ensuring that it is in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory Financial information includes, but is not limited to, Bank's Management reports, the Bank's Board of Director's reports, Audit Committee reports, Call Report and the Bank's audited financial statements. Actively involved in researching accounting issues, assessing technical requirements, recommending and documenting proper accounting and reporting of various bank activities including responsibility over the Bank's financial accounting and reporting policies and procedures.
  • Provides financial performance insights and analysis to executive leadership on a monthly basis.

  • Manages the direction of the day-to-day execution of duties within the department and follows established policies and procedures; also directs and consults staff on accounting issues, risks, analysis, assessments, documentations, and presentations. Provides training to other departments on proper accounting of the Bank's operations.

    Examines the integrity of the Bank's internal control structure over financial reporting including controls over the Bank's general ledger system. in accordance with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX).

  • Responsible for the proper accounting for federal and state income taxes including review of income tax provision and supporting documentation used in the preparation of the income tax return.

Experience Required

8 years of experience in:

  • Preparing and analyzing consolidated financial statements, SEC reports and other financial information.
  • Working with the U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and SEC reporting requirements with ability to efficiently research, identify, interpret, and provide written analysis for accounting treatment and implementation of accounting/reporting changes and federal and state taxation.

  • Experience working with regulatory reporting requirements is preferred

  • 5 years of supervisory experience

Required Skills or Training

  • Must be able to organize, perform highly complex analysis, conceptualize new ideas, interpret applicable laws and regulations and other technical matters, solve complex problems and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Solid understanding of GAAP and regulatory accounting principles as well as the industry's key financial performance drivers.

  • Must be flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications.

Professional Certifications, Licenses, And/or Registration Requirements

  • Certified Public Accountant preferred
