Position Summary: The RISD Dual Credit Advisor will work with both RISD and ENMU-Roswell staff to support dual credit students in achieving their educational goals. Under general direction, the advisor is responsible for assisting with student retention and graduation efforts at ENMU-Roswell. The advisor must have a comprehensive understanding of the University's academic programs and support services to effectively guide students toward successful degree completion. This position reports to the Director, Enrollment Services.
Supervisory Responsibilities: The RISD Dual Credit Advisor may provide supervision and leadership to others in completing assigned tasks. This may include work-study students, temporary support staff, part-time employees, or other individuals temporarily assigned to the advisor's area of responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate student engagement and assimilation into campus life.
- Provide personal academic counseling and advising to students.
- Develop and deliver support services, including Individual Action Plans, academic advising, and assistance with college admissions and financial aid.
- Assist and monitor the academic progress of Early College High School students, working with them individually and in groups.
- Compile and maintain all required documentation and student records.
- Develop and present workshops and informational sessions for students and their guardians.
- Assist in interpreting test results and educational plans.
- Interpret degree and major requirements, articulation agreements, and transfer guides to four-year institutions.
- Provide graduation information to students and conduct graduation audits.
- Advise students in areas such as stress management, self-esteem, and other personal development needs.
- Maintain positive working relationships with school personnel and community agencies.
- Support systematic advising efforts in collaboration with Academic Units.
- Engage in professional development to strengthen knowledge and promote best advising practices.
- Participate in the evaluation and revision of advising processes to better serve RISD high school students.
- Advise students through Academic Suspension and Probation appeals.
- Maintain familiarity with disability-related accommodations.
- Serve on University committees and task forces as assigned.
- Maintain flexible working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
-
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- One year of experience in education and/or counseling.
Preferred:
- Master's degree.
- Five years of experience in an educational setting.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Certificate in Academic Advisement.
- Knowledge of career exploration software such as Career Coach.
- Knowledge of a student information system such as Banner.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Knowledge of basic computer operations and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with diverse and multicultural populations, with the ability to relate to students while maintaining integrity and confidentiality.

Working Conditions

- The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee frequently sits and occasionally stands or walks. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision requirements for this position include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
