Industrial Engineer - Powertrain (Lean Manufacturing | Assembly Operations)


Advantage Technical is hiring an Industrial Engineer - Powertrain to support a leading automotive manufacturer recognized for advanced powertrain and high-volume assembly operations. This role is ideal for an engineer passionate about lean manufacturing, work measurement, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced automotive assembly environment.

Position Overview

The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for direct and indirect labor optimization, line balancing, cycle time analysis, and change control impacting assembly line performance. You will apply lean concepts to eliminate waste, improve throughput, and maintain efficient manning levels. Working closely with the IE Manager and IE Supervisor, you will support daily production and long-term operational improvements across powertrain manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities



  • Conduct work measurement and time studies using MODAPTS, MTM-UAS, and standard data
  • Perform MURI, MURA, and MUDA (3M) analysis to improve line balance and cycle times
  • Complete time and motion studies, elemental breakdowns, and workload analysis
  • Create and update standard work, VSOPs, SWIs, OPLs, and QC plans
  • Analyze machine cycle times, uptime, faults, and defects using FIS/ANDON systems
  • Support process analysis, microstop projects, and kaizen events
  • Validate FIS data on new lines and support launch activities
  • Optimize part presentation, tool placement, golden zone validation, and workstation layout
  • Create and maintain capacity sheets and assembly documentation




Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Knowledge of time studies, ratings, MODAPTS, ergonomics, and work standards
  • Strong ability to interface from shop floor to management
  • Self-motivated with excellent organization and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work any shift, overtime, and occasional travel




Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering
  • Manufacturing assembly and launch experience
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
