THE POSITION

Are you ready to transition your clinical expertise into a high-impact administrative role? The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is seeking a clinically-seasoned and exceptionally organized registered nurse to join our incident management team. In this critical role, you will move beyond direct patient care to oversee the systemic health, safety, and welfare of program participants. You will utilize your diagnostic and clinical knowledge to elevate provider incident reports, ensuring every individual receives care that meets strict regulatory standards. If you are looking to evolve your nursing career toward quality management and public service, we encourage you to apply today!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Medical Records Examiner, you will join a team dedicated to reviewing provider documentation of critical incidents. A core function of the role involves utilizing a designated reporting system to obtain provider-generated reports and evaluating these documents to ensure that participants' immediate needs are addressed, risks identified, and appropriate risk mitigation strategies documented. A significant responsibility includes conducting mortality reviews for reported participate deaths, which requires extensive, focused record reviews to identify medically related conditions and contributing circumstances. The findings from these mortality reviews will be summarized and presented directly to the Medical Director of the Office of Long-Term Living. Beyond individual case reviews, you will complete trend and root cause analyses, developing actionable suggestions for improved outcomes across the population served. In a clinical consultant capacity, you will provide expertise to the incident management team; offer technical assistance to service coordinators, providers, and managed care organizations; and collaborate with internal and external agencies to ensure adherence to regulation governing home and community-based services.
