We are seeking sharp new graduates with strong academic rigor and a genuine interest in building a career in Big Law. POSITION SUMMARY

The Conflicts Analyst will support Winston & Strawn's programs including new business intake, lateral hiring, and Firm growth initiatives. The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for receiving and evaluating the initial conflict check information, performing corporate and online research, and producing conflict reports summarizing the existence of potential or actual conflicts of interest. The Conflicts Analyst will work closely with more senior Analysts, Conflict Attorneys and Conflicts Counsel on various aspects of the conflicts search process with the goal of seeing the conflict search process through from beginning to end.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate information obtained from partners and practice coordinators through the Intapp Open intake system for accuracy and completeness.
  • Research entities using a variety of internal and third-party resources.
  • Conduct comprehensive client due diligence and sanction checks on potential new clients and new matters.
  • Prepare and conduct conflict searches on the Firm's databases related to new business intake, lateral hiring, and Firm growth initiatives.
  • Analyze search results in accordance with the appropriate ethical rules and Firm policies and ensure that all necessary information is obtained so that an accurate search can be completed.
  • Prepare new business conflict reports and summaries to aid requesting partners with conflicts resolution and other steps needed for new business intake.
  • Prepare conflict reports and summaries related to lateral hiring and Firm growth initiatives to aid more senior Conflict Analysts, Conflict Attorneys and Conflicts Counsel with conflict resolutions.
  • Independently complete Level 1 and 2 conflict searches.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all levels of Firm constituents regarding the conflict clearance process.
  • Participate in the testing and review of new software systems.
  • Assist with department projects and special requests as assigned.
  • Responsible for covering after hours/weekend On Call shifts at the discretion of Conflicts Department Management.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree or J.D. with strong academic performance required.
  • 2+ years of professional work experience required.
  • Previous experience with conflicts, compliance, analytical research and/or experience with corporate research resources in an academic, legal, or business environment preferred.
  • The role is available as either hybrid or fully remote and must reside in a commutable distance to the applicable office.

SALARY

Illinois applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $68,000-$87,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.

Los Angeles & Washington, DC applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $80,000 - $102,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.

New York applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $84,500-$107,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.

Bay Area applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $92,000 - $116,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
