The Operational Excellence (OPEX) team is at the heart of this mission, driving the continuous improvement initiatives that enable us to scale at an unprecedented rate. We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Operational Excellence Lead to spearhead transformative projects across our infrastructure operations. This role is ideal for a leader who combines a management consultant's structured problem-solving approach with a deep, hands-on understanding of data and process engineering. You will be responsible for identifying high-impact opportunities, developing data-driven strategies, and leading cross-functional teams to execute improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
What You'll Do
- Strategy & Roadmap Development: Partner with senior leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive operational excellence strategy that aligns with Tesla's core business objectives
- Process Transformation: Lead end-to-end, cross-functional projects to redesign and optimize core business processes. Employ methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, and first-principles thinking to eliminate waste and drive efficiency
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Champion a data-first culture. Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), build insightful dashboards, and utilize advanced data analysis to uncover root causes and validate improvement hypotheses
- Project & Change Management: Manage a portfolio of high-priority improvement projects from conception to completion. Effectively manage stakeholder relationships, communicate progress, and ensure the successful adoption of new processes and systems
- Business Case Development: Build compelling, data-backed business cases and financial models to justify and prioritize initiatives, clearly articulating the expected impact on cost, quality, and speed
- Mentorship & Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert in continuous improvement, mentoring team members and stakeholders on best practices in process optimization, data analysis, and in-house tools execution
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of professional experience in operational excellence, management consulting, business operations, or a related field
- Proven experience leading large-scale, cross-functional projects with measurable business impact
- Demonstrated expertise in continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, and Power BI)
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex information and present it to an executive audience
- A "first-principles" mindset to problem-solving, with the ability to challenge assumptions and innovate beyond traditional solutions

Expected Compensation
$96,000 - $210,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
