The Regulatory Affairs Intern will support the Regulatory Affairs team in ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal standards. This role offers hands-on experience in regulatory research, documentation, and data management within the energy sector. The intern will assist with administrative tasks, compliance reporting, and a database project, while gaining exposure to regulatory frameworks and industry best practices. Projects and duties will encompass areas across the breadth of the business potentially including, but not limited to:

  • Natural Gas Marketing
  • Contracting
  • Trading
  • Scheduling
  • Risk
  • Credit
  • Billing
  • ERPs
  • Process Improvement
  • Data Analysis
Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory
    • Organize and maintain regulatory files and documentation.
    • Monitor updates from regulatory agencies and summarize key changes for the team.
    • Assist in preparation of compliance reports and filings.
    • Support the development and maintenance of a tariff database.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to gather information for regulatory submissions.
    • Communicate findings and updates clearly in written and verbal formats.
  • Processes
    • Support core business processes as needed by the business
    • Work with various departments to identify, evaluate and document requirements for upcoming and active projects
    • Perform As-Is and To-Be Process Mapping as needed
    • Assist with Process Optimization as needed

Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as a student entering junior or senior year of undergraduate studies, or enrolled in a graduate program.
  • Major in Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, MIS, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with direct application to regulatory affairs and compliance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct research and analyze data effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background knowledge of the energy sector, including regulatory frameworks or industry trends.
  • Prior internship or work experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with database management.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel is a plus
  • Background in Python, SQL, R, and Power BI a plus
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and present it clearly.
