The Manager, HB Data Analytics is responsible for leading teams of analysts and process improvement staff to develop data-driven insights, optimize revenue cycle processes, and drive operational excellence. This role ensures the effective use of data and technology to improve efficiencies, support decision-making, and enhance the financial and operational performance of the organization. The manager collaborates with leadership, clinical, and business teams to identify analytical needs, implement process improvements, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Data Analysis, Reporting & Strategic Insights
* Oversee the collection, validation, and analysis of data to support decision-making and performance improvement.
* Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Conduct trend analysis, forecasting, predictive modeling, and financial analysis to support planning and identify anomalies or trends.
* Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all reporting and analysis processes.
* Provide actionable insights on healthcare trends, reimbursement models, and regulatory changes impacting operations.
* Maintain current knowledge of reporting systems and optimize their utilization (e.g., Epic EHR, Web Intelligence, Tableau, SQL, Power BI).
2. Process Improvement & Project Management
* Lead and oversee analytics and process improvement projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
* Design and implement improvement initiatives, leveraging technology and best practices.
* Develop project scopes, timelines, and manage project prioritization in collaboration with leadership and stakeholders.
* Analyze, monitor, and advise on improving KPIs and process optimization.
* Identify root causes of issues, implement solutions, and drive cost containment strategies.
3. Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Training
* Collaborate with hospital, clinical, and business departments to integrate analytics and process improvements into operational and strategic decision-making.
* Serve as a liaison between analytics, billing, revenue integrity, and IT/business intelligence teams.
* Specify, coordinate, and provide training to foster staff self-sufficiency and support ongoing education.
* Foster a data-driven culture and promote the sharing of knowledge and best practices across teams.
4. Technology & Systems Optimization
* Oversee the integration and optimization of data analytics tools and platforms.
* Collaborate with IT to improve data access, system performance, and analytics capabilities.
* Identify opportunities to automate reporting and streamline data collection and process workflows.

Standard Management Level Responsibilities:

1. Directs and supervises assigned personnel, including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training. Makes recommendations on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions. Resolves grievances and other personnel problems within position responsibilities.
2. Provides effective direction, guidance, and leadership over the staff for teamwork and motivation and recommends the most efficient utilization of staff assignments.
3. Encourages and supports diverse views and approaches, creating an environment of professionalism, respect, tolerance, civility, and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors.
4. Integrates diversity into departmental objectives, such as hiring, promotions, and training.
5. Ensures that the department complies with hospital-established policies, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
6. Ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
7. Develops and maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
8. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, DPH, etc. Develops and maintains procedures necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
9. Participates, collaborates, and contributes to assigned committees, task forces, and initiatives to resolve ongoing issues and attends outside seminars as necessary.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/ Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field.
Preferred:
1. Master's degree in a related field. PMP certification is a plus.

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1.5+ years of experience in healthcare data analytics, business intelligence, revenue cycle analytics, or healthcare business office.
2. 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role, with experience in process improvement, training, or education.
3. Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI, Web Intelligence).

4. Experience with Epic EHR reporting tools (e.g., Clarity, Caboodle) and business intelligence platforms.
5. Familiarity with healthcare finance, revenue cycle processes, patient outcomes analysis, and regulatory reporting.
6. Excellent analytic, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
8. Experience with gap analysis, and performance improvement methodologies.

9. Demonstrated leadership, initiative, teamwork, and assertiveness.

Preferred:
1. Strong understanding of healthcare quality metrics, reimbursement models (e.g. DRG, APC, Capitation), and regulatory compliance (e.g. CMS, HIPAA).
2. Experience with machine learning or predictive analytics.
3. Knowledge of cost containment strategies and performance improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
4. Previous experience working with healthcare operations, finance, or clinical quality improvement teams.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

Work is considered sedentary. Position requires work indoors in a normal office environment.
