Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Gatehouse Control in Saint Louis, MO, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Food/Beverage, and more. Join Allied Universal at a fast-paced food and beverage location, supporting access control and security-related operations at key entry points. As an armed Security Officer, you will monitor entrances, verify credentials, manage visitor flow, and conduct routine patrols while maintaining a visible presence. You will communicate clearly, respond to incidents, and deliver a people-first experience, acting with integrity and teamwork in an agile, reliable, and innovative environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access at entrances, lobbies, and/or gatehouses by verifying credentials, issuing visitor passes, and directing guests, employees, and vendors to the proper check-in locations.
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing foot traffic and vehicle traffic, helping to deter unauthorized entry and/or restricted area access.
  • Maintain visitor, contractor, and delivery logs, including sign-in and sign-out, badge accountability, and key control per site policy.
  • Coordinate with site management regarding deliveries, driver check-in, trailer drop and/or pickup procedures, and restricted dock or yard access for a food and beverage location.
  • Operate access control systems, intercoms, and CCTV as assigned, reporting suspicious activity and/or policy violations to the appropriate contacts.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
  • Write detailed reports of daily activities, incidents, and policy exceptions, and communicate relevant updates during shift turnover.
  • Assist with emergency procedures such as evacuation support, access point control, and accountability as directed by site policy and Allied Universal guidelines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • An armed guard card and/or license is required.
  • A state, county, and/or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
