Job Description

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Shipping Lead oversees day-to-day shipping and receiving operations to ensure safe, accurate, and timely movement of materials. This role prepares products for shipment, maintains inventory accuracy, leads and trains shipping personnel, and supports continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Shipping Manager in managing, directing, and coordinating shipping and receiving activities to maximize productivity while minimizing cost
  • Provide daily supervision, training, scheduling, and guidance to shipping personnel
  • Participate in safety stand-ups, line walks, and team meetings
  • Model company culture in a positive and professional manner
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping/receiving area
  • Actively identify and support process improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Shipping & Receiving

  • Prepare products for shipment, including boxing, wrapping, taping, banding, weighing, and labeling
  • Build boxes and apply protective packaging to prevent damage during transport
  • Receive product from outside vendors and verify parts through visual inspection
  • Load and unload trucks as required
  • Create shipping documentation, labels, bills of lading, and commercial invoices
  • Track shipments and coordinate freight arrangements
  • Review shipping and receiving documentation for accuracy

Inventory & Documentation

  • Verify serial numbers, item numbers, and quantities during receiving and shipping
  • Thoroughly review packing slips against purchase orders and complete receiving transactions in Oracle
  • Perform daily production and shipping data reporting
  • Ensure all documentation and packing slips are delivered to Accounting in a timely manner
  • Perform month-end and quarter-end checks and balances for purchase order receipts
  • Notify departments when material arrives
  • Manage and pull material from inventory and initiate purchase order requests for resupply based on lead times
  • Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy initiatives

Safety & Equipment

  • Safely operate forklifts to load and unload material
  • Perform daily forklift inspections
  • Ensure all material handling meets company safety and quality standards

Communication & Coordination

  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors regarding discrepancies such as shortages, incorrect items, pricing issues, or missing documentation
  • Follow up on late or outstanding purchase orders
  • Respond to phone calls and email correspondence related to shipping and receiving

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Due to ITAR requirements, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role
  • 2-3 years of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • 2-3 years of inventory control experience (Kanban, Min/Max, FIFO)
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Intermediate experience with MRP/ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Experience using warehouse and packaging tools, including strap tensioners, bending equipment, and power tools
  • Forklift operation experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Experience supporting safety initiatives and safe work practices
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift, move, push, or pull up to 35 lbs. in accordance with EHS policies
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Full-time availability with flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $21.50 to $28.00 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
