Position Summary

UMM Neurology is a growing, multi-faceted department in the School of Medicine that plays a critical role in improving the health of all New Mexicans. Our department is the Southwestern hub for advanced neurological diagnosis and patient care. We seek a dynamic individual to join our team as a Medical Education Program Specialist to be an important part of our mission and exciting growth.

This position will provide support Neurology's education programs which are Adult and Child Neurology residencies, fellowships in Clinical Neurophysiology, Epilepsy, Vascular Neurology, Neurocritical care, Movement Disorders and Multiple Sclerosis. This position will work on ensuring compliance with ACGME program oversight requirements. In collaboration with the Medical Education Program Manager, this position will also be coordinating the adult residency fellowship programs of Neurology.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and coordinates the development, implementation, and execution of Neurology the Neurology Residency programs.
  • Oversee and administer all facet of Neurology's acceptance of candidates into medical residency and fellowship programs for adult neurology which include but are not limited to recruitment, selection, and onboarding of residents.
  • Monitor funding allocations for all of Neurology's medical education programs including non-standard payments, event planning, and moonlighting.
  • Provide and coordinate the provision of guidance, consultation and related support to adult neurology residents, fellows, and faculty to support the medical education program of the Department.
  • Provide full time support and maintain Neurology's promotional, educational and informational presentations which include Neurology websites, recruitment resource materials, etc.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with recruitment in residency and fellowships programs
  • Experience working with accredited educational programs
  • Experience with coordinating and organizing meetings and/or special events
  • Experience with Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), National Residency
  • Matching Program (NRMP) and ACGME
  • Knowledge of New Innovations software
  • Strong database and analytical skills
  • Experience with process improvements
  • Experience in developing and maintaining complex and interrelated training schedules for medical education program/s
  • Experience in content creation
