We are seeking a dedicated and skilled I&E Technician to join our team at the Laurel Plant in Gainesville, Florida. This role is essential for installing, repairing, and maintaining chemical process equipment, support system controls, and plant electrical systems. The successful candidate will thrive in both team-based and independent work environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand P&IDs (symbols, tags, and instrument lines), wiring diagrams, and instrument loop drawings.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of hazardous area electrical classifications and equipment requirements.
  • Apply proper specifications for intrinsic safety and explosion-proof classifications.
  • Troubleshoot motor issues (direct-drive and VFD) and select the necessary replacement parts.
  • Understand and troubleshoot PLCs (Ladder programming).
  • Troubleshoot, install, and repair ROV valves and actuators.
  • Repair, bench set, test, and calibrate control valves of various styles.
  • Explain basic principles of flow, temperature, and pressure measurement, and the associated devices.
  • Work with Engineering to specify and recommend instruments for various services.
  • Troubleshoot and restore functionality to SMART transmitters, utilizing a HART communicator.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in calibrating all types of field instruments.
  • Understand basic control logic (input, output, set point, PID, feedback).
  • Troubleshoot instrument loops and configure basic single-loop controllers.
  • Calibrate and document single-loop controllers.
  • Understand cascade and split-range control logic.
  • Differentiate between single-phase and three-phase power.
  • Size and install circuit breakers (110 Vac, 240 Vac) appropriately.
  • Read and understand single-line electrical diagrams and wiring conventions.
  • Wire and terminate AC devices (single and three-phase).
  • Possess knowledge of NFPA 70E standards.
  • Adhere to all plant safety policies and compliance regulations, actively participating in safety audits and projects, and contributing to continuous safety improvements.
  • Familiarize with and comply with Milliken Quality Policy, relevant SOPs, ISO 9000 standards, and applicable Company Policies.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an industrial instrumentation technician or equivalent certification/training in an instrumentation/electronics program.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret control loops, wiring schematics, and blueprints.
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
  • Physically capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds, climbing vertical ladders, and maneuvering in confined spaces.
