Central Federal is seeking to fill a Senior Accountant role based in the greater Chicago, IL market. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the accounting operations of the Bank which includes accurate reporting and record-keeping, creating controls and budgets to mitigate risk, and ensuring compliant results. Senior Accountant responsibilities include:
- Preparing and filing the Bank's quarterly Call Report.
- Assisting in producing periodic financial reports; as required for daily, monthly and annual monitoring.
- Ensuring compliance with the Bank's established guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Maintaining an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk which enhances the accuracy of the Bank's reported financial results.
- Ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Conducting project management functions as related to Finance Operations and other projects as assigned and directed by the CFO and the President.
- Overseeing daily general ledger balancing and reconcilements.
- Analysis and research of individual accounts and outstanding items
- Participating in ongoing professional development and training programs to further advance skills.
- Provide and manage staff training and coaching to help bridge skill gaps, accomplish department goals and professionally develop direct reports.
- Assist in annual external audits and regulatory audits

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- 3-5 years' comprehensive accounting experience and at least one (1) years' experience managing the general ledger and financial reporting functions.
- Comprehensive knowledge and application of federal and state banking laws and regulations.
- Financial control and general ledger experience.
- Advanced knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures, preferably at a community bank.
- Prior banking experience preferred.
- Proficient in using advanced Microsoft Excel (formulas, graphing, pivot tables); Microsoft Office, and other accounting software systems.
- The ability to make decisions, exhibit sound, and accurate judgment, and make timely decisions.
- The ability to inspire and motivate others to perform well and to accept feedback from others.
- The ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- The ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner by skillfully gathering and analyzing information, facts, data, etc.
- Willing to be held accountable for critical decisions and situations.
