Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Genetics Counselor to join their team! This role will be Full Time Day Shifts Monday - Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm

Genetics Counselor Job Responsibilities:

  • Attends routine Cancer Center meetings and serves as a clinical resource to the healthcare team.

  • Performs inherited disease risk assessments and cancer risk assessments through review of family and medical histories.

  • Provides individualized genetic counseling and testing to patients/families identified at increased risk for inherited cancers.

  • Facilitates patient awareness and access to research and clinical studies.

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills with all members of the healthcare team.

  • Coordinates counseling sessions to meet the needs of patients, families and members of the healthcare team.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Master's degree in genetic counseling.

  • Years of Experience: Experience in genetic counseling with experience in inherited disease genetics or cancer genetic counseling or have recently completed an inherited disease or cancer genetics clinical rotation.

  • Certification: Board eligible for certification by the ABGC.
