The Position

The Port of Portland is hiring a Security Badging Compliance Specialist.

We are seeking a highly organized individual who would be responsible for authorizing, fingerprinting, training, issuing and accounting for PDX Security Badges to workers following federally mandated regulations and directives, including 49 CFR 1542, PDX Airport Security Program and the Port of Portland statutes and Rules.

This role would provide security badging information to new applicants and existing badge holders over the phone, by email and in person. Part of this role may include serving as a delegate for Badging Office management when managers are out of the office.

Essential Job Duties

Responsible for various administrative duties including:

  • Audit electronic and paper applications and I-9 documents.
  • Conduct software training classes for Authorized Signatories.
  • Add and update employer badging data in the IDMS software.
  • Act as the primary contact for stakeholders and conduct outreach to Authorized Signatories.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders.
  • Closeout of companies in the IDMS software, and new company set up.
  • Track, collect, and bill for unreturned badges.
  • Process monthly badge billing and weekly deposits.
  • Review and analyze audit reports and data from the IDMS software.
  • Perform records retention duties and conduct badge and key audits.
  • Manage the appointment schedule for applicants needing fingerprinting and security training.
  • Purchase operating supplies, peripheral cleaning of IT equipment, and processing checkpoint and temporary passes.
  • Assist Aviation Security and Emergency Management Departments with special events.
  • Handle new applications and renewals that require additional research such as documents with extensions.
  • Train and/or mentor Security Badging Coordinator I employees including providing guidance regarding more complex processing and lead work assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in an office environment, use of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
    • (Preferred) Experience in an aviation security environment.
  • 1+ years work experience as Security Badging Coordinator Level 1 with the Port of Portland or other airport badging office.
  • (Preferred) 2 years post-secondary education and/or training.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • (Required) Ability to obtain and maintain PDX security badge.
  • (Preferred) ACE Trusted Agent.

Demonstrated Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced - Customer service protocols.
  • Senior - Provide a high level of customer service to a diverse employee group and the general public, including some with disabilities or limited English skills.
  • Senior - Create, develop and produce work independently without direct guidance or assistance.
  • Senior - Knowledge of the training material for security and airfield driving topics.
  • Senior - May be assigned a supervisory or lead role depending on the specific nature of the project, task or assignment.

Supplemental and Selection Information

SELECTION PROCESS (tentative schedule):

  1. A minimum qualification evaluation of education, training, and experience of submitted application packets will take place by Human Resources February 10, 2026.
  2. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials.
  3. Our goal is to schedule onsite interviews with candidates who successfully passed the SME evaluation on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
