Job Description




As a Security Officer - Unarmed Patrol Officer in Norfolk, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a government waterfront location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will communicate clearly with site contacts, respond to reports, and deliver outstanding customer service to visitors and staff. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, contractors, and employees by following post orders, security-related procedures, and site-specific policies at a government location.
  • Conduct routine and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of terminals, buildings, parking areas, gates, and perimeter fencing to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify hazards or maintenance issues.
  • Monitor access points and support access control operations by checking identification, issuing visitor directions, and verifying authorization for entry and/or restricted-area movement.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and requests for assistance in a calm, problem-solving manner, including coordinating with site contacts and public agency partners as directed.
  • Complete clear, accurate documentation such as patrol logs, incident reports, and shift activity reports, and communicate timely updates to supervisors and site leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A TSA issued TWIC is required.
  • A guard card/license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
