Academic Intern, Spring

Los Angeles Times
21 USD-21 USD
United States, California, El Segundo
2300 East Imperial Highway (Show on map)
Feb 03, 2026

In 2021, the Los Angeles Times welcomed its inaugural class of spring interns. We are excited to continue this program aimed at training and preparing local students for fruitful careers in journalism.

The spring internship is structured to give students the flexibility to gain experience while continuing their education. The internship can be either part- or full-time depending on the student's schedule. Interns can start between January and March. The entire internship is a total of 400 hours. That equals a 10-week internship if an intern works 40 hours a week or a 20-week internship if the intern works 20 hours a week.

Qualifications: Applicants must be students who attended or recently graduated from a college or university. They must be actively working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree and must be eligible to work in the U.S. Graduates may qualify if they've finished school within six months of the start of the internship.

Applicants for the reporting and visual journalism positions must have a valid driver's license and access to a car in good working condition. Internships are for students who have not worked professionally as staff journalists. A basic understanding of the work is required as interns are expected to hit the ground running when they arrive. A previous internship is recommended. With training from our staff, we will help develop, polish and elevate your work and add to your journalistic toolbox.

These internship positions will be based in El Segundo, Calif. Qualified candidates should submit a resume to Assistant Managing Editor of Culture and Talent Angel Jennings at the apply link.
