Role Serves as the custodian of record for the organization, ensuring effective communication and administrative support for the Legal Department. Works with the Associate General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer to manage legal documents associated with member accounts.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Exemplifies the core values of CAMPUS, while supporting our strategic priorities for members, employees, and community. Maintains the highest standard of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
- Processes account garnishments, levies, subpoenas, court orders, and other legal requests. Drafts initial legal responses to pleadings for attorney review and approval
- Serves as the custodian of record for the Credit Union and ensure all required documents are received and imaged according to policies and guidelines. Works to improve efficient workflows for archiving credit union records
- Drafts, edits, and updates legal communication items to members and third parties, validating for accuracy
- Provides various administrative support functions for the Legal Department, conducting legal research and assisting with discovery for potential litigation, arbitration, or other legal disputes
- Assists the Associate General Counsel with credit union members' legal issues and concerns
- Develops, implements, and validates case management and document tracking systems for ongoing legal matters
- Ensures all responses to legal processes are accurate and timely
- Supports the functions of the Legal Department and notifies management of the training and developmental needs of staff
- Keeps management informed of legal, compliance, and operational issues that may affect the Credit Union
- Provides friendly, professional, and accurate service and support to all members and associates
- Provides guidance and training to team members as well as other users on the records archive system
Education
- Bachelor's Degree OR
- A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions may be substituted
- Completion of a specialized certification or licensing (i.e., Paralegal)
Experience
- 1 - 2 years of similar or related experience
- Experience in a professional legal environment helpful
- Credit Union or financial institution experience helpful
