What to Expect

The Tesla Quality department is currently accepting applications for its Leadership Program. Employees accepted into the program will participate in a 12-week training period. Those who successfully complete the training will be considered for future full-time Production Supervisor openings.

A Production Supervisor Trainee maintains the Production Lead classification, level and pay rate that was in place when they were accepted into the program.During the 12-week training period, the Trainee will be responsible for learning and applying their skills. After a maximum of 12 weeks, the Trainee will be required to demonstrate these skills through a standardized assessment.Trainees that fail to complete this assessment will be removed from the program and will return to their full-time role within production.Trainees may also be removed from the program if they fail to demonstrate ability to meet the requirements for the role.

In order toqualify for consideration,applicantsmust currently be employedwithin the Quality department while meetingthe Teslainternal mobility guidelinesand eligibility.


What You'll Do

Training will include:

  • Attendance tracking andimportanceof payroll management

  • Understanding andutilizingkey performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to meet and progress business needs

  • Effective communication techniques, including various forms of team communication

  • Techniques to addressdifficult situationswith team members

  • Application of Lean Manufacturing principles in a dynamic environment

  • Change Management

  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Leadership development, team management, and independent supervision

  • HR and Inside Tesla management tools and templates

Expectations of progress:

  • By week 3,demonstrateconsistent andaccurateattendance tracking for their team

  • By week 5, understand andutilizekey performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess and meet the needs of the business

  • By week 6, effectively address their team through different forms of communication (e.g., verbal, written, digital, stand-up)

  • By week 6,demonstratethe ability to have difficult conversations with team members, addressing issues constructively

  • By week 7, use Lean Manufacturing principles and effective communication to lead through a dynamic manufacturing environment

  • By week 9,demonstratethe ability to solve problems and make decisions independently using root cause and OODA Loop techniques

  • By week 12,utilizeHR tools and templates to manage a team

  • By program completion, lead, develop, and manage their team effectively without the need for guidance or supervision


What You'll Bring
  • Provide effective supervision and coaching to assigned shift/employees to achieve the required quality and production goals. Maintain department records andinventories

  • Manage the movement of product through the production area. Ensure that the productis in the process at alltimes

  • Plan and organize work of smooth operations. Ensure that the standard operating procedures and engineering procedures are current,accurateand that all work is done in compliance to ensure maximumquality

  • Monitor to ensure that all employeescomply withsafety regulations and the plant's safetyprogram

  • Work with employees to resolve technical and personnelproblems

  • Schedule employees to effectively meet production needs and to ensure vacations and other time off consistent with plantpolicies

  • Provide the shift-to-shift communication linkin order tokeep all team members working toward the samegoals
