Job Title: Medical Editor and Fact Checker (mid-level)

Location: Hybrid, Irvine, CA (remote)

Contract: Must work PST Hours, 40 hours a week

About the Role:

Our global pharmaceutical client is anticipating more projects on the horizon and to prepare for that, we're seeking an experienced Medical Editor to join their Editorial team and support pharmaceutical advertising and medical education projects, on a CONTRACT basis. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong fact-checking skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You'll ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all deliverables while collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain editorial excellence.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Edit and proofread copy for assigned (and additional) brands as needed
  • Fact-check annotated copy against provided references, ensuring acceptable sources are used
  • Collaborate with the Editorial Director and team to maintain quality and meet goals
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects, meetings, and tasks to meet deadlines with excellence
  • Understand assigned brands and therapeutic categories thoroughly
  • Ensure adherence to client, brand, and regulatory guidelines
  • Provide constructive feedback and ideas to improve editorial processes and minimize errors
  • Mentor and guide junior team members and freelancers, ensuring process integrity
  • Maintain brand style guides and bibliographies in a timely, organized manner
  • Apply AMA style and adjust to brand-specific editorial styles as required


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years of medical editing and fact-checking experience in a pharma ad agency or medical education environment
  • Strong ability to work independently with a proactive, self-starting approach
  • Skilled at adapting to changing deadlines and project needs while providing solutions
  • Proficiency in AMA style and knowledge of FDA guidelines for pharmaceutical products/devices
