Position: Authorization Coordinator Experience Level: Entry Level - 2 years experience in provider authorizations Location: Remote - 60 mile radius from Emeryville, CA Employment Type: Full-time Description We are seeking a highly organized and detailoriented Authorization Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for verifying patient eligibility, coordinating benefits, confirming insurance coverage, and determining if prior authorization is required for procedures, tests, therapies, and specialist referrals. The Authorization Coordinator ensures all authorizations are obtained accurately and documented in the patient's electronic medical record. This position also serves as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and internal staff, facilitating timely responses to authorization and referral inquiries and maintaining turnaround time standards. Responsibilities * Verify patient eligibility, insurance coverage, and benefit coordination for incoming orders. * Determine whether prior authorization is required for procedures, diagnostic tests, therapies, or specialist referrals. * Obtain necessary authorizations from insurance companies and document approvals in the EMR (Epic). * Respond to patient and provider inquiries regarding authorizations, referrals, and coverage requirements. * Monitor and resolve referral/authorization orders within the Epic Referral Pool according to workflow timelines. * Track urgent and pending referrals to ensure timeliness and maximize customer service. * Confirm accuracy and completeness of referrals, including CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS codes, requested providers, and place of service. * Verify that insurance plans are accepted for all incoming referrals. * Request additional clinical information from providers or office staff when needed. * Process referrals following standard work procedures and payer contract requirements. * Provide medical information to payers to obtain final determinations when needed. * Research "no authorization" denials and submit requests for retroactive authorizations. * Maintain precise documentation and attention to detail in every referral. * Proactively research issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions for workflow improvements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Emeryville, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
