Medical Receptionist - Smilow Cancer Center (Yale University School of Medicine) Location: New Haven, CT Schedule: 7.5hour shift between 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM (flexibility required) Experience Level: Intermediate About the Role Smilow Cancer Center-part of the worldrenowned Yale University School of Medicine-is seeking a compassionate, organized, and patientfocused Medical Receptionist to join our frontline care team. In this role, you will be a key touchpoint for patients and families, helping ensure a welcoming experience during some of life's most challenging moments. Key Responsibilities Patient Interaction & Front Desk Support * Greet, check in, and check out patients in a warm, professional manner * Assist with patient intake and verify registration and insurance details * Answer incoming calls and triage patient inquiries appropriately Administrative & Clinical Support * Perform data entry, documentation, and appointment scheduling in Epic * Manage incoming faxes and medical records requests * Look up patient information and maintain accurate, detailed medical notes * Coordinate with clinical teams regarding patient flow and scheduling needs Operational Duties * Support patient access functions and uphold confidentiality standards * Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient front desk environment Required Skills & Experience * Epic experience (strongly preferred) * Patient registration & patient access * Medical reception / medical secretary experience * Knowledge of medical terminology * Medical scheduling * Medical records management * Triage support and patient intake coordination Top Candidate Qualities We're looking for someone who is: * Compassionate and patientcentered * Comfortable multitasking in a busy medical setting * Detailoriented with strong communication skills * Professional, reliable, and able to work independently or in a team Why Join Smilow Cancer Center? Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
