Core Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

  • Assist in the operation of the department while keeping the Supervisor and Superintendent informed of any problem.

  • Must be able to take over the operation of the department in the absence of the supervisor. This can mean an hour, a day, or an extended period of time such as vacation or illness.

  • Schedule work and perform operations as required

  • Assist crew by unloading and hauling during peak demands

  • Coordinate with clerk docking of trucks and truck release, maintain efficient dock and release

  • Check e- mails in the morning for any important needs or hot items, make notes of

  • Coordinate with clerk completing preoperational report and maintaining condensation sheet

  • Oversee open space available to place inbound received materials, direct haulers when necessary to maximize available space.

  • Review morning inventory and communicate any age issues with departments

  • Check to see production department consumption needs so haulers can operate most efficiently

  • Oversee crew as to safe equipment in good repair, and that crew is following safe practices and guidelines.

  • Keep outside dock perimeter, dock, hallway, and office neat and orderly

  • Assist clerk with belly load QA inspection, review and sign QA inspections, do record reviews, and weekly direct observations.

  • Step into all clerk functions in the absence of the clerk

  • Coordinate with clerk to complete all daily paperwork, prodotrack, belly and trim data base, etc.

  • Oversee daily raw inbound appointment list, when light on trucks communicate with Supervisor to discuss Work load of crew. When heavy appointment list arrange OT to maintain left over trucks for 2nd shift to a reasonable level.

  • Assign jobs following proper seniority order

  • Control flow of materials

  • Report problems to the Supervisor and Superintendent

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

Tool & Equipment:

  • High-Rise Forklift, Stock Picker and Scanner.

  • The majority of the time is spent in the plant environment and will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

  • Noise level is loud in the production area and hearing protection is always required.

  • Must be able to lift up to 60lbs.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT/TRAINING REQUIREMENT:

  • Bump cap, hair/beardnet, eye protection/goggles, hand protection, hearing protection, freezer suits, freezer gloves and freezer boots.

MANDATORY TRAINING/COMPETENCY TO BE EARNED:

  • Proper lifting, PIT, Trailer Wheel Chocking and Lockout and PPE
