Job Summary

The Manager Strategic Projects leads the Project Account Management team responsible for executing projects. This position oversees the day-to-day operations, ensures consistency in project processes, and drives improvements in workflow, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Provides guidance, mentoring, and support to the Project Account Manager team while collaborating with sales, operations, and finance teams.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Provides ongoing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure projects are executed efficiently, accurately, and on schedule.
  • Assigns projects and balances workloads to optimize team performance and resource utilization.
  • Conducts regular one-on-one meetings and performance check-ins to provide feedback, recognize achievements, and identify development opportunities.
  • Coaches team on project management best practices, technical knowledge, and customer engagement skills.
  • Mentors staff on problem-solving, escalation handling, and prioritization of high-impact projects.
  • Sets clear performance expectations and goals aligned with departmental objectives and tracks progress.
  • Establishes and maintains project management processes, standards, tools, and KPIs to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely delivery of projects.
  • Serves as escalation point for complex or high-risk projects.
  • Reviews project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to align with company goals.
  • Collaborates with sales, operations, and finance to resolve and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives in project execution, workflow efficiency, and team performance.

Non-essential Functions

  • Provides assistance in purchasing functions, product evaluations, inventory management, pricing development, and other related services.
  • Attends training programs, as required. May assist with trade shows, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 7+ years of experience in project management experience, including supervisory responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution products and utility systems preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English.
  • Strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint), internet, email, and SAP software.
  • Proficient in 3rd party platforms such as Quotewerks, Remarcable, Power BI, PARSPEC, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Adobe Building Systems. Recognized as an expert in certain areas of these platforms.
Skills and Abilities
  • Technical ability to understand electrical systems and product applications with prior electrical distribution experience preferred.
  • Technical ability to read specifications and drawings highly preferred.
  • Ability to review customer and/or vendor contracts to present to other departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal commuication, reading, and customer service skills preferred.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, and work well on a team.
  • Ability to present the grid project management processes and benefits to customers via phone or in person.
