A Brief Overview
Perform direct supervision over some members of the electrical group and maintenance activities. Responsible for the coordination of workload, completing work of a similar nature, inventory, materials management, training, supervision of staff, coordination of outside contractors, project management and response to customer service needs. This is a working/supervisory position.

What you will do
  • Supervises Electrical assigned staff. Manages and performs maintenance activities.
  • Maintains competency testing evaluation records, oversees performance, and documentation.
  • Monitors performance of staff daily for excellent quality and productivity.
  • Coordinates staff schedules.
  • Performs quarterly/semiannual performance management plans with employees, identifies and monitors duty task responsibility, goals, expected results and results achieved.
  • Investigates/corrects, and disciplines situations of poor performance.
  • Inspects work daily for conformance with trade standards, project specifications and building codes.
  • Takes immediate steps to correct deficiencies.
  • Applies CHOP Policies and Procedures fairly and effectively.
  • Inspects facilities continuously; notes maintenance problems; initiates solutions.
  • Regularly checks staff for adherence to arrival, break and departure time.
  • Continuously monitors staff attendance, PPL usage and trends.
  • Performs work of a similar nature as required.
  • Demonstrates through own performance, standards of excellence for trade.
  • Balances time spent working against supervisory responsibilities.
  • Schedule and perform regulatory, Preventative and corrective maintenance activities for all assigned locations.
  • Assigns work daily.
  • Clearly communicates project objectives to staff and customers.
  • Effectively integrates P.M.'s in workload to prevent backlog.
  • Distributes workload fairly matching skill with ability.
  • Monitors progress daily and logs time and materials required to complete work.
  • Investigates delays; independently takes appropriate action to resolve problems. Refers unusual or difficult problems to supervisor.
  • Maintains effective coordination of activities within the group and with other trades as required.
  • Assesses/plans workload weekly.
  • Meets with supervisors bi-weekly.
  • Meets with customers; assesses needs; clearly communicates project scope and resolution of problems.
  • Communicates with staff to disseminate information, discuss issues and seek staff feedback.
  • Participates in regular staff meetings monthly.
  • Fosters atmosphere of teamwork in group.
  • When the Electrical Supervisor is not available this position will fill the position of the supervisor. Ensures adequate levels of supplies, materials and tools within group.
  • Assists in monitoring expenditures against budget.
  • Reviews expenditures and budget with supervisor monthly.
  • Manage maintenance projects ranging in size and scope to meet CHOP objectives.
  • Ensures that projects are completed on or ahead of schedule.
  • Ensures that projects are completed on or under budget.
  • Manages vendors, contractors and in-house staff on the project.
  • Ensures that projects meet or exceed established quality, and balance user needs against overall project objectives.
  • Provide effective and timely project communications between all parties on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate and perform utility interruptions to limit the impact with users, Hospital operations and staff.
Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • Technical Diploma Electrical Maintenance or similar skill trade with building maintenance Required
Experience Qualifications
  • At least five (5) years working experience in institutional or industrial electrical maintenance Required
  • At least three (3) years experience supervising, coaching, and training electrical maintenance staff. Required
Skills and Abilities
  • Experience in working within an Electrical maintenance environment, High 15KVA, Medium 480, through 120 volt and low voltage equipment.
  • Ability to read prints, sketches, wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, schematic drawings.
  • Experience in the use of all industrial hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and customer oriented.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Excellent leadership abilities and project management skills.
  • Experience trouble shooting mechanical equipment and devices.
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills verbal and written.
  • Ability to track inventory and materials management computer literacy.
  • Must have the ability to climb, work in close quarters, lift heavy objects, and work outside in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be flexible enough to work different hours, and shifts, to insure to meet the needs of our customer and maintenance needs.
  • Basic knowledge of NEC National Electrical Code, and NFPA 70, 70E, and NFPA 99.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License - Department of Motor Vehicles - upon hire - Required and
  • Master Electrician - Philadelphia Licenses & Inspections - upon hire - Required

SALARY RANGE:

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
