A Brief Overview This role will lead components of the infection prevention program and oversee members of the infection prevention team. The Infection Prevention and Control Program is an enterprise-wide team working to improve patient care and prevent infections across the continuum of care in all CHOP locations.
This role is responsible for the hiring, recruiting, training and performance of their team while cultivating partnerships with key stakeholders throughout the system to support infection prevention practices. Responsibilities include daily infection prevention operations such as consultation, education, liaison with key stakeholders, planning and development, and staff supervision. Under the direction of the Medical Director(s) and System Director, the manager will guide, direct, and implement appropriate infection prevention and control measures to assist in achieving the overall strategy and goals of the infection prevention and control program.
What you will do
- Creates and maintains cost effective systems to ensure adequate staffing for the infection prevention and control program.
- Assigns coverage of units/departments to staff and appoints staff representatives to organizational committees.
- Responsible for working with Talent Acquisition to hire, recruit talent to support Infection Prevention Programs across the continuum of care.
- Manages performance, goal setting and development of direct reports to achieve and sustain a high performing team.
- Supports regulatory and accreditation activities, including participation in surveys and responses to findings as an IPC team lead
- Manages a portfolio of work to support organizational goals to reduce healthcare associated infections and improve patient safety
- Provides feedback and input on targeted improvement activities to improve infection prevention practices
- May provide clinical coverage of units/departments on an interim or permanent basis
- Supports IPC on call and/or IPC Leader Resource on call on a rotational basis
- Facilitates multidisciplinary risk assessments to identify gaps in infection prevention and control and ages of priority
- Tracks infection trends and escalates findings with suggestions for immediate response
- Provides leadership support for the planning and response to outbreak and exposure investigations
- Serves as a subject matter expert in healthcare associated infection prevention improvement work, reprocessing, construction, data analytics, and/or product evaluation.
- Assists in the development and delivery of education and consultation to healthcare providers, providing leadership support to content developers
- Develops, reviews, implements and maintains infection prevention policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Master's Degree in healthcare related field Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- At least seven (7) years of infection prevention / control experience Required and
- At least three (3) years of leadership, management, or supervisory experience Required

Licenses and Certifications
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology - within 12 months - Required
- Fellow of Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (FAPIC) - Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology - upon hire - Preferred
- Long-Term Care Cert Infection Prevention (LTC-CIP) - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) - upon hire - Preferred

$104,600.00 - $138,600.00 Annually
Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly. ------------------- This job is eligible for an incentive program.
